Soldiers of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during offensive operations near Bakhmut, Donetsk region, defeated units of the 72nd Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Russian Federation, freeing part of the territory and capturing the Russian military.
This was stated by Andrei Biletsky, the commander of the Azov tactical group, which is part of the 3rd separate assault brigade. According to him, the 6th and 8th companies of the Russian 72nd brigade were actually completely destroyed.
“The brigade reconnaissance was broken, a significant number of armored combat vehicles were destroyed, a significant number of prisoners were captured. Offensive operations were carried out in a strip 3 km wide and 2 km 600 meters deep. This entire territory has been completely liberated from the Russian occupation forces,” Biletsky said.
Also, according to him, the 3rd assault detachment of the Wagner PMC suffered heavy losses.
Earlier, the founder of the PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, said that the 72nd brigade of the Russian Defense Ministry left its positions in the Bakhmut area.
“They just took it and drapanuli,” said Prigogine,
According to Prigozhin, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are “tearing the flanks” in the Bakhmut direction, are regrouping in Zaporizhzhya, and will launch a counteroffensive in the near future.
Russian troops have been storming Bakhmut in the Donetsk region since last fall. The city has not yet been completely taken. Prigozhin claims that only Wagner PMC fighters participate in urban battles.
