The Russian Ukraine war recorded a number of new developments. Some reports say that a Russian drone has crashed into the NATO country, Romania.
Quoting Sky News , Thursday (7/9/2023), the Ukrainian government made the initial notification on Monday. Kyiv claims Russian drones have landed on Romanian territory in a night attack.
Initially, Bucharest denied these claims. But Romanian Defense Minister Angel Tilvar later commented that “pieces that may be elements of the drone were found on Romanian territory near the Ukrainian border”.
Even so, the President of Romania speaks to the public with caution. He said that if any part of the Russian drone was confirmed to be on Romanian territory, this would constitute a “serious violation”.
Under NATO rules, an attack on one of its members is an attack on all of its members. Ukraine itself has accused Romania of denying the existence of drones to avoid NATO slipping into direct confrontation with Russia.
Meanwhile, in its update, NATO said it had “strong solidarity” with Romania. A briefing has been given to the bloc regarding “an incident near the Russian border, which caused parts of a Russian drone to fall on its territory”.
“The country previously said part of what it thought was a Russian drone had crashed near its border, but it did not pose a threat,” the British publication said.
Russia and Ukraine have been at war since February 2022. Rising energy and food prices are one of the impacts of the war between the two countries.
Russia is the world’s fossil energy exporter. Meanwhile, Russia and Ukraine are also global food “basins”, especially for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
