Foreign Minister Nikolay Milkov is ready to leave as Bulgaria’s Permanent Representative to NATO within a week after the President makes a decision on his appointment, Milkov said, taking a question at a Thursday news briefing hosted by the Foreign Ministry.
The caretaker government proposed caretaker Foreign Minister Nikolay Milkov as Bulgaria’s representative to NATO by a decision of the Council of Ministers dated March 31. The logic of this appointment is, as of the other ambassadorial appointments, that we have to ensure that the missions are able to work normally and that the rotation develops as well, Milkov said. In his words, if the caretaker government had not made the previous appointments and those now, the last rotation would have been two years ago.
As regards NATO, for a year and two months now, and that in the conditions of war, Bulgaria does not have an acting representative there. It is time for such an appointment, he noted.
