Hungarian Prime Minister (PM) Viktor Orban made a surprising claim about former United States (US) President Donald Trump.
According to Orban, Trump is the only way to end the Ukraine war. However, he needs to be re-elected as president of Uncle Sam’s country to end the war between the two neighboring countries.
Orban, known as Vladimir Putin’s closest ally in the European Union (EU), also described any suggestion that Ukraine could defeat Russia in the bloody 18-month conflict as a lie.
In a bizarre twist, he claimed returning Trump, who faces criminal charges for allegedly trying to overturn the 2020 presidential election, to office would be the only way out of this war.
“Ukraine’s victory against Russia is not just a misunderstanding. It’s a lie. It’s impossible,” said the controversial and often outspoken leader, quoted from Express , Friday (1/9/2023).
“[The Ukrainians] will run out of soldiers earlier than the Russians. What will ultimately count is their troops taking to the field and the Russians being much stronger.”
But when asked what he would do if he were President Biden, the leader of the NATO member country gave a surprising answer and said: “Call back Trump!
“Because you know, you can criticize him for various reasons, but the best foreign policy in the last few decades is his,” he said.
“He didn’t start new wars, he treated North Korea, Russia and even China well… and if he had been president at the time of Russia’s invasion [of Ukraine], it would have been impossible. Trump is the man who could have saved the Western world .”
Earlier this year, Trump said he insisted he would be the best person to end Russia’s war in Ukraine, and could make it happen in one day.
