Germany Cuts Extended Roster for FIBA World Cup 2023 to 14 Players


German NT head coach Gordon Herbert has made the first cuts in the preliminary squad for the upcoming FIBA World Cup 2023.

A total of 18 players have been called up to the extended roster, but four of them — Louis Olinde, Christian Sengfelder, Jonas Wohlfahrt-Bottermann, and Jonas Mattisseck were cut.

Expressing his optimism about the squad, coach Herbert commented, “We have a great group coming to the training camp. Everyone shows great commitment.”

“Each of these players wants to represent their country at the highest level. It’s an honor for all of them to play for Germany. We’re playing for a medal at the World Cup, he added.

Germany will play in Group E and meet Finland, Australia, and Japan.
