Former Penguins Defenseman Christian Ehrhoff Joins Krefeld Pinguine in Germany

Former Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Christian Ehrhoff has come out of retirement and joined the Krefeld Pinguine of Germany’s Deutsche Eishockey Liga 2 (DEL2), the second-tier league in his native country.

The team announced his signing via a release on Wednesday.

A member of the German Ice Hockey Hall of Fame, Ehrhoff, 40, had been retired since 2018.

Ehrhoff spent one season with the Penguins. In 2014-15, he appeared in 49 games and scored 14 points (three goals, 11 assists).

The left-hander also played for the San Jose Sharks, Vancouver Canucks, Buffalo Sabres, Los Angeles Kings and Chicago Blackhawks during his NHL career.

Before joining the NHL, Ehrhoff played parts of four seasons for Krefeld in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
