Ukraine may only use F-16 fighter aircraft donated by Denmark and the Netherlands within its territory, Danish Defense Minister Jakob Ellemann-Jensen confirmed on Monday.
Denmark and the Netherlands said on Sunday they would supply F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. The first six units of these fighters will be delivered around the New Year.
“We donated weapons on condition that they are used to expel the enemy from inside Ukraine. Nothing more than that,” Ellemann-Jensen said, according to the Ritzau news agency.
“Those are the conditions, whether it’s tanks, fighter planes or something else,” he continued.
Denmark will deliver a total of 19 F-16s, while the Netherlands has 42 F-16s available for donation to Ukraine but has not yet decided whether all of them will go to that country.
Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelenskiy said the planes would strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses and assist Ukraine’s counterattack on Russian troops.
