China Says They Will Not Add Fuel to The Fire of The War in Ukraine

China does not intend to benefit from Russia’s war against Ukraine and looks forward to further discussions on the peace plan proposed by Beijing.

Foreign Minister Qin Gang, in a speech after a meeting with his German counterpart in Berlin, pointed to the Chinese government’s recent talks with both Russia and Ukraine. He also noted that China’s special envoy to Europe would soon visit Ukraine again.

“We will not add fuel to the fire,” he said.

In addition, Qin denied that Chinese firms supplied critical components for the Russian arms industry.

He also insisted that China maintains “normal” trade relations with Russia, but did not mention a significant increase in Chinese purchases of Russian crude oil at a significant discount.
